Michael L. Smith is serving in his sixth year as the Director of the American School of Valencia, an international school with 850 students from 44 countries, after serving as a Head of School in Barcelona, Spain and Naples, Florida. Smith has made international education his profession of choice after previous careers in politics and banking in Washington, DC and West Virginia. Concurrent with his responsibilities as a school leader at the American School of Valencia, Smith is active in the international accreditation process with the Middle States Association (MSA) and has chaired multiple accreditation teams around the world, most recently in China, Spain, Germany, and Kuwait.
